NAY PYI TAW, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Thein Sein pledged Tuesday to advance ties with China.
Myanmar will continue to pursue a friendly policy toward China, U Thein Sein told Fan Changlong, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission.
Myanmar will make unremitting efforts to push forward the Myanmar-China comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership, he said.
To enhance solidarity and cooperation between Myanmar and China is in the fundamental interests of the two peoples and conducive to development and stability of the two countries and the whole region, he said.
Fan said China and Myanmar are good friends, neighbors and partners. The two countries, over the years, have kept frequent high-level exchanges and achieved important progress in cooperation in such fields as politics, economics and trade and culture, Fan said. Bilateral military relations have also enjoyed momentum of development, he added.
China is willing to work with Myanmar to boost ties between the two countries and between their military forces, he said.
