HARARE, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Wednesday met visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang on bilateral relations.
Wang said Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Africa in March pushes the China-Africa relationship to a new high.
China-Zimbabwe friendship has a long tradition. Over the past 33 years, China and Zimbabwe have been supporting each other on issues concerning each other's key interests, and have been helping each other on development issues, according to a statement released by the Chinese delegation.
Wang said China is willing to join African nations including Zimbabwe in efforts to boost the new-type strategic partnership between China and Africa.
Mugabe agreed with Wang's viewpoints and he expects China- Zimbabwe relationship to rise to new levels, the statement said.
Wang, who started visiting Zimbabwe on Tuesday, met Zimbabwean Vice President Joyce Mujuru and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and signed a series of cooperation agreements on Wednesday.
