Driving forces behind 'Chinese dream'

"Chinese dream" has quickly become a buzzword in China since the new central leadership took office in November 2012. However, a key question still needs to be answered: Is there a widely accepted consensus of the term "Chinese dream" in the whole country? If not, the dream may become a mirage.

To reach consensus, the country should first consider the driving forces behind the dream.

For example, Europe was badly hit by the Second World War, but still had three strong motivations after the war, namely achieving European integration, promoting the overall economic recovery, and eliminating the Cold War threat.

Europe lost its momentum after the 1990s probably because the Soviet Union collapsed, its economy recovered, and the European Union was established. At present, it is still under the shadow of the 2008 global financial crisis.

Europe envies China for that reason. This country is still making active efforts to complete the transformation of an ancient civilization into a modern one as well as reviving national creativity and leadership.
