Many schools in rural area have been closed or merged due to insufficient number of students in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The new schools are far away from certain villages; therefore, many students' parents or relatives have to rent houses close to their children's schools and concentrate on helping them with their studies. This "accompanied study" phenomenon has become common in recent years in rural areas in many provinces in China.
