BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Wu Xinxiong, head of the National Energy Administration (NEA), on Monday urged the energy industry to improve work safety following the deadly oil pipeline blasts in east China's Shandong Province.
A comprehensive safety inspection is being planned, Wu said, who called for effective investigation and treatment of hidden dangers.
An oil pipeline explosion on Friday has killed at least 55 people in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao. The blast occurred after oil leaked from a Sinopec pipeline into the municipal pipe network.
In a separate online statement on Tuesday, NEA said it is working on policies that encourage private investment in the country's energy sector, paving the way for a level playing field.
NEA supports private investment in twenty areas, including new energy and small hydropower stations, the statement said.
