A fire broke out in a flooring factory in Pujiang Town of Minhang District this morning but no casualties were reported, according to local news website Xinmin.cn.

One factory house was burned down in the blaze and dark smokes billowed from the burned houses near Tangpu Road.

The factory makes wood furniture and flooring materials and has large stocks of wood and paint, which are highly combustible and are the reason why the fire spread quickly.

Witnesses said the factory was just put into operation and no workers lived in the compound.

Minhang police said fire trucks arrived at the scene immediately and the fire was put out at about 7am one hour after it started.

No one was found injured in the fire and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
