(Global Times)

Parents from several schools in Fengtai district complained that they were forced to donate money for quake-devastated Ya'an in Sichuan Province, Beijing News reports.

A parent with a child studying in the Yihai branch school of the Beijing No.8 high school surnamed Wang said that after his son donated 150 yuan, the teachers encouraged students to donate more money since the total amount of donations cannot be lower than the other classes.

Schools denied that they were setting up a minimum level for the donations. "All the donated money will be transferred to the Civil Affairs Bureau," a school employee said.
