Man infected with H7N9 receives treatment in Anhui

Two medical workers pass the physician's order sheet of a man infected with H7N9, a strain of avian influenza that had never been passed to humans before, at the People's Hospital of Bozhou City, east China's Anhui Province, April 8, 2013. The 55-year-old male patient, surnamed Li, once worked at a local live poultry stall. He was diagnosed positive of the H7N9 avian influenza virus on Sunday. As of 6 p.m. on Monday, China reported 24 cases of human infection with the lesser-known H7N9 bird flu virus, including 11 in Shanghai Municipality, eight in Jiangsu Province, three in Zhejiang Province and two in Anhui Province. Among the seven fatalities, five were in Shanghai and two in Zhejiang. (Xinhua/Liu Junxi)
