Student dead, six injured in training center fire

WENZHOU, Zhejiang, March 19 (Xinhua) -- One student died and six others were injured after a fire at a private training center in east China's Zhejiang Province, the local government said Tuesday.

The blaze broke out at an unlicensed training center for primary school pupils in a seven-story building in Liushi Town, Leqing City at 10:30 p.m. Monday, with 25 students and nine members of staff inside, said a Leqing City government source.

A 13-year-old student surnamed Lin died and another surnamed Zheng, also aged 13, was seriously injured in the blaze, which was put out at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Three other students and two members of staff are being treated in hospital.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Education authorities of Leqing have decided to order the closure of all local unlicensed training centers.
