3 dead after Henan wall collapse

ZHENGZHOU, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from an incident in which a wall collapsed at a construction site in Zhoukou City, central China's Henan Province, has risen to three, government source said on Sunday.

The rescue work has concluded as the bodies of the two missing people have been retrieved from the rubble, according to the Zhoukou government press office.

The wall collapsed at around 7 p.m. on Friday while concreting work was being carried out at the city's under-construction passenger coach station.

Fifteen workers were on the site when the accident happened and four of them were evacuated unharmed.

Among the other 11 people, nine were injured and then hospitalized and two were missing. Of the nine injured, one died later in hospital and the remaining eight were in stable conditions. Bodies of the two missing were retrieved in the debris Saturday night, bringing the death toll of the accident to three.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
