BEIJING, December 11 (ChinaMil) -- The first large-scale engineering comprehensive training ground of the strategic missile force (SMF), also known as the Second Artillery Force (SAF), of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was recently completed and put into use, providing hereafter a professional, base-oriented, and systemized training platform for the missile engineer corps of the PLA.

This engineering comprehensive training ground comprises 5 function areas to satisfy the need to accommodate the camping and training of 1,000-plus missile engineers simultaneously and to conduct synchronized training classes related to engineering construction, engineering support and military operations other than war (MOOTW).

According to the briefing made by Wang Qifan, leader of a unit under the SAF of the PLA, the unit spent over 1 year to complete the construction of this training ground in order to solve the engineer corps' issue of lacking a large-scale comprehensive drill-and-training platform.

It is learned that this comprehensive training ground will also take charge of the tasks of basic subject training, detachment synthetic training and the comprehensive drill-and-training of troops of the SAF engineer corps.
