The "Bayi" (August 1) Aerobatic Team of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAAF) has arrived in Russia with seven J-10 jet fighters for its first overseas airshow, the 11th Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon.

Major General Yin Zhuo said in an interview with CCTV that the performance team was making the trip to perform, and to give foreign experts a direct and close-up view of aircraft performance, pilot training standards, and control technologies. This is indicative of a healthy relationship of mutual trust between the Chinese and Russian armed forces.

During the Air show, the Bayi Aerobatics Team will carry out friendly exchanges with the Warriors Aerobatics Team of the Russian Air Force, so as to further enhance strategic mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation between the Chinese and Russian militaries.

Since the foundation of the Chinese Bayi Aerobatics Team, it has performed at many important events, such as the National Day Military Parade and the Zhuhai Air show. The team has now been invited to perform at the Moscow Air show. The Moscow Air Show is being held for the tenth time, and it shares the same international prestige as the Paris Air Show in France, the Farnborough show in the United Kingdom, and the shows in Singapore and in Zhuhai, China.

Yin Zhuo said that Bayi Team was formed more recently than the performing teams of the Western countries and Russia, and is relatively less experienced. Its participation in the forthcoming Moscow show is a sign of progress in terms of our military's openness and transparency to foreign countries.

Yi noted that the members of the Bayi Team are our top pilots, and that the J-10 aircraft they use is currently the air force's main battle plane. The Bayi Team’s participation in the Moscow show will provide a good opportunity to compare our flying strength with that of other countries.

"This demonstrates a very large degree of transparency and openness," Yin Zhuo said. "For its first foreign trip the Bayi Aerobatics Team has chosen to fly in Russia, showing that military exchanges between China and Russia are steadily growing stronger. Our Army will be taking a lot of its latest military equipment and support facilities to Russia, and conducting head-to-head displays. This is a pioneering initiative, and shows the growing trust between the two armies."
