China, Romania to further promote military ties

BEIJING, July 5 (ChinaMil) -- Zhang Yang, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and director of the General Political Department (GPD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Vasile Costea, the visiting state secretary of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, and his party on the afternoon of July 4, 2013 in Beijing.

Zhang Yang said that China and Romania enjoy time-honored friendship. China-Romania comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership has constantly made new progress in recent years, as evidenced by constantly deepened mutual political trust and smoothly developed economic and trade cooperation. The Chinese side attaches importance to China-Romania relations, and is willing to work together with the Romanian side to further deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, so as to push forward sustainable and healthy development of the bilateral relations.

Zhang Yang also said that the Chinese and Romanian militaries have had frequent high-level reciprocal visits and constantly strengthened pragmatic cooperation in various fields in recent years. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Romanian side to further enhance mutual trust and expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to push forward sustainable development of the relations between the two militaries.

Costea said that Romania attaches importance to traditional Romania-China friendship, and is willing to work together with the Chinese side to further deepen mutual trust and expand mutually beneficial cooperation. The Romanian side hopes that the two militaries will constantly make closer personnel contacts and expand the fields of cooperation, so as to constantly promote the development of the relations between the two militaries.

Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), also held talks with Vasile Costea on July 4, 2013.

Qi Jianguo said that China-Romania relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 60-odd years ago. In recent years, China-Romania comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership has always maintained a momentum of healthy, stable and sustainable development, and the Chinese and Romanian militaries have had frequent high-level contacts and constantly expanded professional exchanges and cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Romanian side to further deepen mutual trust and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, so as to uplift the relations between the two countries and the two militaries to a new high.

Costea said that China has achieved impressive achievements in its economic and social development and national defense construction. The development of Romania-China relations is facing new opportunities. The Romanian side looks forward to further expanding contacts in various fields between the two militaries and improving the level of mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to open up new vistas in the relations between the two militaries.
