Qi Jianguo meets with U.S. acting under secretary of state

Beijing, June 7 (ChinaMil) -- Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, met with Rose Gottemoeller, the acting under secretary of the United States Department of State for arms control and international security, who came to China to attend the 6th round of China-U.S. strategic security and multilateral arms control negotiation , and her party on the afternoon of June 6, 2013 in Beijing.

Qi Jianguo said that China and the U.S. are committed to establishing a new-type relationship between the two great powers. It is in the common interests of the two countries to enhance mutual trust and strengthen communication and cooperation in the field of strategic security and arms control. He hoped that the U.S. side will remove the obstacles to the mutual strategic trust between the two countries, so as to create favorable conditions for bilateral dialogues, exchanges and pragmatic cooperation.

Rose Gottemoeller said that although some differences still exist between the U.S. and China, the U.S. side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to strengthen cooperation and reduce the possibility of misjudgments on the basis of mutual respect and mutual trust.
