Hou Shusen holds talks with chief of Spanish Joint Staff for Defense

BEIJING, May 22, (ChinaMil) -- Hou Shusen, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Juan Antonio Carrasco, the visiting chief of the Spanish Joint Staff for Defense, on the afternoon of May 21, 2013 in Beijing.

Hou Shusen expressed that China and Spain are good friends that share long-term friendship, support and trust each other. The development of the relations between the two countries has laid a solid foundation for that of the relations between the two militaries. The two militaries have achieved fruitful results from the in-depth and pragmatic exchanges and cooperation. The two sides can further uplift the level and scale of personnel training and open up new fields of cooperation in future.

Carrasco said that the Spanish military attaches importance to developing its friendly relations with the Chinese military, and he hoped that the two sides would strengthen the pragmatic cooperation in such fields as international peacekeeping operations, anti-piracy, joint training, and disaster rescue and relief work.
