BEIJING, May 14, (ChinaMil) -- Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Antony Bertram Anderson, the visiting chief of staff of the Jamaican Defense Forces, on the morning of May 13, 2013 in Beijing.
Fang Fenghui extended his welcome to Anderson and his party for their visit to China. He said that China and Jamaica as well as their militaries have traditional friendly relations. In recent years, the relations between the two countries have been constantly developed and the relations between the two militaries have been constantly deepened. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Jamaican side to further expand cooperation fields and deepen pragmatic cooperation in such fields as high-level contacts, reciprocal visits of delegations and groups, personnel training and military cultural exchanges, so as to promote the relations between the two militaries to a new high.
Anderson said that the relations between the two countries and the two militaries have been constantly developed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and the field of cooperation between the two militaries has been constantly expanded especially in the past ten years. He hoped that the two sides would continue to maintain the momentum of friendly development and deepen pragmatic cooperation, so as to further improve the relations between the two militaries.
Before the talks, Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for Anderson and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the Chinese PLA. Courtenay Rattray, Jamaican ambassador to China, participated in the above activities.
Anderson and his party came to pay an official goodwill visit to China from May 12 to 17 at the invitation of Fang Fenghui.
