Xu Qiliang meets with Turkish guests

BEIJING, May 6, (ChinaMil) – Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), met with Hulusi Akar, deputy chief of general staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, and his party on the morning of May 6, 2013 in Beijing.

Xu Qiliang pointed out that the people of China and Turkey enjoy time-honored friendship. In recent years, personally promoted by leaders of the two countries, the two sides have constantly enhanced their mutual political trust and made increasingly close contacts in such fields as economy and culture. The two countries have broad consensus in international and regional affairs. The Chinese side appreciates that the Turkish government adheres to the one-China policy and supports China on issues concerning China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The relations between the Chinese and Turkish militaries have also maintained a good momentum of development, as evidenced by fruitful cooperation in many fields. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Turkish side, so as to further enrich cooperation connotations, promote the bilateral relations to a new high and make greater contributions to peaceful development of the world.

Akar agreed with Xu Qiliang's comments on the relations between the two countries and the two militaries, and expressed his willingness to further deepen the exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two militaries.

Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), was present at the meeting.
