The Military Academy of Medical Sciences (MAMS) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the PLA Center for Disease Prevention and Control held a training class on the techniques for the detection of H7N9 avian influenza virus on the morning of April 8, 2013. Technicians from disease prevention and control organizations of major units of the PLA attended the training class.
Experts from the MAMS of the PLA explained such professional knowledge as sample treatment, nucleic acid extraction, and detection, result judgement and biosafety protection, and allocated the nucleic acid reagents dedicated to diagnosing and detecting H7N9 avian influenza virus to disease prevention and control centers of major units of the PLA.
According to a briefing, with the PT-PCR technique, the reagents can complete the detection of a patient's nasopharyngeal swab specimens in two hours, so as to determine whether the patient is infected with H7N9 avian influenza virus.
