Guo Shuqing elected governor of Shandong Province

JINAN, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Guo Shuqing was elected governor of east China's Shandong Province on Wednesday during the second session of the 12th Shandong Provincial People's Congress, the local legislature.

Guo, 57, served as chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission for one and a half years before being appointed vice secretary of the Shandong provincial committee of the Communist Party of China in mid March.

The native of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region earlier served as chairman of the China Construction Bank between March 2005 and October 2011.

He was appointed acting governor of Shandong on March 29.
