Liu Hui elected chairwoman of NW China's Ningxia

YINCHUAN, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Liu Hui was elected chairwoman of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Tuesday at the second session of the 11th regional people's congress, the local legislature.

According to the official website of the regional government, Liu, 54, is an ethnic Hui from north China's Tianjin Municipality. She joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in December 1985.

She served as deputy chairwoman of Ningxia for 10 years. She was also appointed deputy secretary of Ningxia's regional committee of the CPC in March.
