Hu appoints new ambassador to India

BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has appointed a new ambassador to India, according to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) on Wednesday.

Wei Wei has been appointed ambassador to India, replacing Zhang Yan.

Hu made the appointment in line with a decision made by the Standing Committee of the NPC, China's top legislature.
