Translated works by Premier Li's wife sell well

A series of books on American naturalist literature translated by Cheng Hong, wife of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, have sold well in Beijing since being published last year, reported Hong Kong's Ta Kung Pao.

Cheng spent ten years translating the four books of the series--The Outermost House, Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place, Singing Wilderness and Wake Robin.

Cheng is a professor at the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing. She taught English and American literature to postgraduate students before 2007 and has been engaged in the research on American naturalistic literature since then.

Her translation works have also earned her wide applause. Terry Tempest Williams, author of Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Places, once said that Cheng presented the author's vision through her translation with great beauty and her work displayed great care, insight and sensitivity to both the language and spirit of the book.
