Andy Lau, Jury President, 7th Asian Film Awards(CNTV)

Nominations from the Greater China Region this year dropped from 25 to 16, as romantic comedies gave way to darker themes. That includes the best picture "Mystery", a very modern story of lust and confusion. CCTV correspondent Jin Jiabo talks to Hong Kong actor Andy Lau, who is leading the jury panel at this year’s Asian Film Awards.

Andy Lau, Jury President, 7th Asian Film Awards, said, "As you can see, there was a lot of work by great Taiwan directors last year. It usually takes one year or longer to produce a good movie, so I think next year we will definitely come back. Most of the movies this year are sort of heavy, a little bit negative or dark. I was expecting to see lighter movies actually. The theme of the movies is a mirror of reality. This shows that society is becoming busier, more anxious and irritable. I wish that our lives, and our movies, would calm down, have more sunshine. "
