A mountain bike race will be held in southeastern Tibet's Nyingchi prefecture this month as part of the 9th Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon Culture and Tourism Festival.
The race, a 34km trip around Lulang in Nyingchi, will kick off on Sunday. It has 17km in each lap and lasts a maximum of 2 hours and 30 minutes. All competitors start together and the first to cross the finish line wins the gold.
Competitors must be non-professional and have more than one-year experience in the sport.
Liu Ping, the race organizer, said that rocky paths, tricky climbs and technical descents provide plenty of challenges for riders.
