The 2013 China Dancesport Open wraps up in Hong Kong. Defending Champions Hou Yinshan and Tian Tian were looking for another crown in the Latin Dance competition.
With China’s Latin dancing king and queen -- Shao Keqiang and Yang Na hanging up their dancing shoes -- leaving an opening for younger dancers to emerge. And Hou Yinshan and Tian Tian have taken advantage, proving they can fill those roles, as they were able to defend their title in the Latin dance category.
Hou Yinshan, said, "To be the new dance king, well that depends on the crowd and judges’ decisions. But we try to do our best in every competition, and that includes techniques, movements and outfits."
The Chinese dancing pair have had more opportunites to show off their skills as professional Latin dance is starting to flourish in the country.
Hou said, "There are a lot of young dancers on the stage and this is a good trend. Unlike previous competitions, older dancers made up the majority of the draw. I think the new dancers will be able to show off their skills."
Often things are more difficult for younger dancers, as they learn their trade. But the new Latin dance king knows from experience that will change.
"I am excited. I don’t face any pressure. The new talents will inspire us, and make us improve," Hou said.
For now they don’t need to improve too much as they were able to claim their second straight title.
