On the heels a recall of 384,181 vehicles in China this March due to DSG transmission box defects, Volkswagen recalled 91,000 units in Japan for the same problem.

A spokesperson of the company said the problem has been attributed to warm, humid weather as well as traffic congestion and heavy air pollution in some Asian cities.
