Toyota reports group net profit up nearly 240 pct

TOKYO, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday its group net profit in the business year ended March increased 239.3 percent from the year before to 962.16 billion yen on the support of a weaker yen and robust sales in North America and Asia.

Its consolidated operating profit surged 271.4 percent to 1.32 trillion yen on sales of 22.06 trillion yen, up 18.7 percent.

The automaker also said it expects to book a group net profit of 1.37 trillion yen and operating profit of 1.8 trillion yen on sales of 23.5 trillion yen for the current business year. (One U.S. dollar equals 99.06 yen)
