Taiwan stocks close 1.78 pct higher

HONG KONG, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's share prices closed 1.78 percent higher on Friday with the weighted index rising 139.45 points to 7,930.80, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 7,862.92 and 7,933.22 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 86.19 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.89 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
