SINGAPORE, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Qantas Airways, the flag carrier of Australia, announced on Monday its plan to open a new lounge in Singapore's Changi Airport on March 31, as well as better frequency and timings in this Asian air hub.

The airline said they're some of the measures to boost its Asian presence. Besides Singapore, Hong Kong will also see a new lounge later this September.

Simon Hickey, Chief Executive Officer of Qantas International, said Asia remained a key pillar of the goal to be the best for global travelers.

He said in the press release that the company's existing services to Asia are no longer tied to onward links to Europe. " The number of dedicated seats on Qantas services to Hong Kong and Singapore is increasing significantly, because capacity previously set aside for customers going to Europe via these hubs can be freed up."

The airline is aim at seeking stronger links to the two key hubs in Asia. Some flight timings have been changed that passengers will arrive Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok earlier " up to three hours to increase the number of onward connections".

Meanwhile, the airline will also reduce its Perth-Singapore services to one per day and cease its Adelaide-Singapore and Perth- Hong Kong services, while four additional Sydney-Singapore services per week will be added.
