NEW YORK, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended narrowly mixed on Monday as concerns over Greece and the U.S. fiscal cliff negotiation weighed on the market.
When the market closed, the Dow Jones industrial average dropped 42.31 points, or 0.33 percent, to 12,967.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 was down 2.86 points, or 0.20 percent, to 1,406.29. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 9.93 points, or 0.33 percent, to 2,976.78.
Euro zone finance ministers, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund met in Brussels on Monday to finalize the second bailout package of 31.2 billion euros for debt-burdened Greece.
German Deputy Finance Minister Steffen Kampeter said he expected Greece's international creditors to strike a deal later on Monday on unfreezing loans for the heavily indebted country. However, investors seemed fed up by the indecision in the euro zone.
Before Monday's gathering, eurozone finance ministers had two meetings since November, but they failed to reach agreement to unlock the bailout fund for Greece.
Negotiation over the so-called fiscal cliff will resume this week after the Thankgiving holiday. Although both Democrats and Republicans expressed willingness to reach a deal in avoiding the fiscal cliff, investors remained worried as the deadline of Dec. 31 was approaching.
