MANAMA, Sept. 22 -- A U.S. navy helicopter crashed in the Red Sea on Sunday and five personnel onboard were reported missing.
The U.S. navy's Fifth Fleet which is based in Bahrain announced in a statement that an MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter crashed in the Red Sea during an operation.
"The status of the five personnel on board the helicopter is still being determined. The crash was not due to any sort of hostile activity," the U.S. navy said in a statement.
Rescue efforts have been carried out and the incident is under investigation, it said.
