Death toll from Italy's coach accident rises to 39

ROME, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from a fatal coach accident in southern Italy has reached 39, local media reported early Monday.

The accident happened at around 08:30 p.m. (1830 GMT) Sunday near the city of Avellino in southern Campania region, when the bus with 48 tourists onboard crashed through the guard rail, falling nearly 30 meters down the hill.

According to local newspaper Il Mattino, the bus swerved to avoid hitting a truck and then rammed some cars before violently impacting the guard rail.
