PARIS, July 24 (Xinhua) -- France "will always stand" alongside Syrian National Coalition (CNS) to uproot current Syrian regime and promote a democratic state in the conflict-torn country, French President Francois Hollande said Wednesday.
"France is alongside coalition. It's working on political and humanitarian plan, also on the corridors that can be opened to provide support to people," said the French head of state after meeting the new leader of Syrian opposition, Ahmad Jarba.
He also said working "to have a European common position on the embargo," preventing the country from supplying weapons to the opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
More than two years of conflicts in Syria has killed an estimated 100,000 people and forced 1.8 million to flee to neighbor countries, according to the UN refugee agency.
