LOS ANGELES, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Helped by a number of talk shows featuring high-profile celebrities and a rising fame score, Oprah Winfrey has returned to the top of the most powerful celebrities rank after trailing in the second slot for two years in a row.
The popular talk show host led the annual list of 100 most powerful celebrities, compiled and published by Forbes on Wednesday, for the fifth time.
Oprah Winfrey Network, which was run by Winfrey as a struggling cable network which once suffered 330 million dollars in loss by the end of 2012, shows a promising sign and is anticipated to generate profit by late 2013.
Winfrey, arguably Hollywood's most successful entertainer and businesswoman, was also helped by high-profile interviews she conducted with famous people including disgraced U.S. cyclist Lance Armstrong, according to the magazine.
She rolled up an estimated 77 million dollars in revenues between June 2012 and June 2013, down from 165 million dollars in 2012.
However, buttressed by strong fame scores including press mentions and social networking stature, Winfrey still managed to return to the top.
Lady Gaga slipped to the second slot. She earned 80 million dollars during one year ending in June 2013. The singer's standing was also helped as she received the second-most press mentions and support from fans on social networking.
Woman occupied six of the top 10 slots on the latest ranking, according to Forbes, which also includes Beyonce (fourth), Madonna (fifth), Taylor Swift (sixth) and Ellen Degeneres (10th).
Only four men managed to finish within the top 10. They are: director Steven Spielberg (third), rock band Bon Jovi (seventh), tennis player Roger Federer (eighth), and pop star Justin Bieber ( ninth).
Other people who also hit the list include actor Hugh Jackman ( 11th), singer Jennifer Lopez (12th), golfer Tiger Woods (15th), retiring English footballer David Beckham (19th), top-earning actor Robert Downey, Jr. (20th), NBC player Kobe Bryant (24th), and actor Tom Cruise (27th).
Actor Johnny Depp, singers Britney Spears and Adele, and reality star Khloe Kardashian have conspicuously failed to make the list.
