MOSCOW, May 23 (Xinhua) -- A Western approach on security issues undermines mutual trust, a high-ranking Russian official said Thursday.
"The logic of unilateral steps still prevails, without taking into account the concerns of other countries," Sergei Ivanov, chief of the Kremlin administration, said at the Moscow-European security conference.
Such an approach inevitably undermined the principle of equal security and defused mutual trusts, he said.
"We cannot agree with such an approach," Ivanov said, adding that a proposed anti-missile defense system was the most thorny issue between Moscow and NATO.
"Development of the situation here directly affects the global security and stability," Ivanov said.
He said Moscow has been monitoring the actions and plans of the U.S. and NATO on the issue.
