TRIPOLI, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- A car bomb exploded Friday near al- Berka area in downtown Benghazi, Libya's second largest city, leaving no casualties, local security sources told Xinhua.
The car belongs to a commander of Defense Ministry named Ayman Eriq, who had received threats through his cell phone a few days ago, the sources said on condition of anonymity, adding that the explosion was triggered by a homemade bomb which had been placed under the car by an unknown group.
Libya will mark on Sunday the second anniversary of the unrest that toppled former leader Muammar Gaddafi on Feb 17, 2011 as fears of fresh protest and violence haunt the country recently, especially in Benghazi.
