SUVA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Fijian Prime Minister and military forces Commander Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama on Monday told soldiers not to be moved by personal agendas of the country's old politicians and that their aspirations would be a priority in the new constitution.

During the military's first parade at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Suva on Monday, Bainimarama asked all military personnel to remain loyal to their duty and not be disturbed by criticism against the developments in the country, according to local news website Fijivillage.

Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) soldiers should not be moved by the talks from politicians especially now that they have led and supported government for six years in its road towards democracy, Bainimarama said, adding this year is an important year as the government would announce the new constitution and move towards elections. He also confirmed that the members of the Constituent Assembly would be announced soon and the military would have a representative in the assembly.

Bainimarama told his soldiers to closely monitor the developments happening within the government and further assured them that the new constitution would contain the aspirations of the RFMF.

The ideals that the military believe would bring prosperity to Fiji, the prime minister said, saluting the service and hard work of some his soldiers while they were awarded medals at the parade.

The government said its draft constitution was in a final stage and would be completed before the end of February.
