ANKARA, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- A moderate magnitude earthquake shook Turkey's Aegean coast near Canakkale province on Sunday, the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute at Bogazici University said.
The institute said the quake, measured at 5.0 degrees on Richter scale, struck at a depth of 7.5 kilometers with its epicenter in the Aegean Sea at 10:55 local time (0755 GMT).
On Tuesday, a moderately strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 hit near Turkey's largest city of Istanbul, causing no damage.
The quake was strongly felt in Istanbul as well as Thracian and Aegean provinces.
