Provincial police chief killed in Afghan blast

ZARANG, Afghanistan, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The provincial police chief of Afghanistan's southwestern province of Nimroz was killed Monday in a blast in neighboring Herat province, a police spokesman said.

"The police chief of Nimroz province General Mohammad Musa Rasouli died following a bomb attack on his vehicle in Adraskan district of western Herat province Monday morning," regional police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Xinhua.

Rasouli was traveling in his official vehicle form Herat to Nimroz provincial capital Zaranj, some 790 km southwest of Kabul, the spokesman said.
