Abu Dhabi, April 11 (People's Daily Online) –The 2014 World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit will have a great influence on China in both economic and political aspects, said Chen Yibo, Deputy Director-General of Hainan Provincial Tourism Development Commission, after Hainan was announced as the host of the next Global Summit at the closing ceremony of 2013 WTTC Global Summit on April 10.

The Global Summit is the world's highest profile meeting for the Travel & Tourism industry. Up to 1,000 company leaders, officials of tourism departments from across the globe have attended this Summit which is celebrated annually. With the development of this organization, the global summit has a very profound influence on the tourism of various states.

“We hope to showcase Hainan as international tourism island and attract more travelers via the celebration of 2014 WTTC Global Summit, which will definitely has great positive effects on China's tourism, especially that of Hainan province,” said Chen.

To host the 2014 WTTC Global Summit is not only a rare opportunity for Hainan province but a great challenge. “From the U.S., Japan to UAE, each of these Global Summits is more exciting and has higher demands than the previous one. So now we are under pressure,” said Chen.

But Hainan province has both the determination and the confidence to make the 2014 Global Summit a great success. Hainan provincial government has been making all the preparations in human, financial and material aspects. And a comprehensive plan has been made for it. “The National Tourism Administration also pays great attention to the Summit and gives us great support,” added Chen.

After China's central government issued the strategic policy to build Hainan province into an international tourism island, Hainan has improved its hardware and software conditions in tourism. Now the tourism income accounts for 12 percent of the GDP of Hainan province, which is higher than the national average. Tourism has become one of the pillar industries of Hainan province. Under the guidance of the national strategy, Hainan is comprehensively developing its modern service industry to meet the demand of international tourism island. “Tourism will contribute more and more to the national economy. We will make more effort,” said Chen Yibo.
