Travelers stopped by customs after celebrity surgery makeovers

Two female passengers were stopped earlier this week by the border police at Gongbei Port, Zhuhai city in south China's Guangdong province, for resembling Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, whilst looking very different from their passport photos, Guangzhou Daily reports.

This is not the first time frontier police have encountered passengers who transformed their faces after undergoing cosmetic surgery aboard.

Interestingly, some fans choose to model their faces after that of a famous star, with Fan Bingbing being among the most popular choices.

"This is the second of the two passengers resembling Fan Bingbing that we found within 2 hours of each other that morning," said an official from the border inspection station.

According to the border inspection official, recognizing travelers by their passport photos has become a challenge for border inspection police, as more and more people undergo plastic surgery.

Another girl, who also looked dissimilar from her passport photo, even showed the police a photo of a part of her cheekbones that had been removed from her face, which her cosmetic surgeon had suggested that she take in order to prove her identity.

In order to avoid such situations, the border police recommend that passengers apply for a new passport or ID card following their surgery, before they go through customs.
