MOSCOW, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called for concerted efforts to defend the legacy of World War II (WWII) victory as the world is once again reeling from the specter of hegemonism and power politics. Xi made the call as he arrived in Moscow for a state visit to Russia and celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War.
In 1962, the China National Opera House in Beijing presented Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, the first time it had been performed in China. With a stellar cast of renowned Chinese artists, the performance opened the door for Russian operas to be interpreted in Chinese, laying the foundation for future artistic exchanges between the two giant neighbors.
HARBIN/BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- On the frontier of high-level connectivity between the two sides, Chinese cities, like buttons sewn onto the 4,300-km-long shared border with Russia, fasten the two countries together. Though far from the bustle of metropolises and blanketed in snow for nearly half of the year, the border cities in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province exude an international flair, blending cultural characteristics from both sides.
China-Russia trade is expected to maintain growth momentum in the coming years, as both countries are actively strengthening business ties in manufacturing, green industries, cross-border e-commerce and other emerging sectors, said market watchers and exporters. They said that with the improvement of logistics infrastructure, the rapid growth of China-Europe freight train services, and rising demand for high-quality products on both sides, bilateral trade is set to grow steadily in the years ahead.
