Lotus Pond came into being in the 9th Year under the reign of Emperor Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1883) when lotus were planted in Self-plowing Field while Hubei Provincial Commander-in-chief Cheng Wenbing had the residency of Zhuge Liang in Longzhong repaired. Also, a Crescent Pavillion was built then in the lotus pond. In the 22nd Year of the Republic of China (1933), the Lotus Pond was under maintenance supervised by Liu Ji before it was renovated by Longzhong Tourist Attraction Administration in 1983. This renovation not only got rid of sludge, but piled gracefully-shaped rocks along the pond and added new species of lotus, making Longzhong Tourist Attraction more glamorous. Each summer, people flock to the pond to appreciate its breathtaking beauty - while fully blossomed lotus studded with glistering dews spread refreshing scent to far distance, emerald green lotus leaves cover the pond like countless jade umbrellas.
