The existing Zhuge Thatched Cottage was especially built in Longzhong as setting for the TV series of Zhuge Liang when it was shot by Hubei TV Station in 1984. In 1987, National Tourism Administration especially allocated RMB200,000 to have Zhuge Thatched Cottage rebuilt based on the shooting site. As a Han Dynasty styled and civil-structure architecture, Zhuge Thatched Cottage measures 463.5 square meters and can be divided into front and rear yards. The stele reading Zhuge Thatched Cottage inscribed by Guo Moruo was hung above the gate. And an ox cart, tailored based on the story of Zhuge Liang Bringing His Bride Back with an Ox Cart, is put on display in the yard. On the right side of the front yard is the bedroom reserved for visiting guests Zhuge Liang often entertained when he settled here. The bedroom of Zhuge Liang’s younger brother Zhuge Jun is opposite to guest room. And what sits in the middle is the thatched cottage - the living hall to entertain the visiting guests. As to the rear yard, it consists of the bedroom for Zhuge Liang and his wife to the right, dining room in the middle, study in the left, and kitchen in the left corner.
