Zhuge Liang Memorial Hall, an architecture dedicated to paying worship to Zhuge Liang, is located in the halfway to the Mountain Longzhong. Initially built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), the hall was under consistent maintenance throughout Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties as well as the Republic of China. Carved above the front gate are huge characters reading “Memorial Hall in Honor of Prime Minister of Han Dynasty Zhuge”. Also inscribed along the both side of the gate are a couplet reading “Heaven Overturned” and “Earth Shaken”, implying the enormous changes brought by Zhuge Liang after he mounted to historical stage as Liu Bei’s adviser. Zhuge Liang helped bring an end to the once extremely politic and military chaos during the last years of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) and shaped a situation of tripartite confrontation as he had long expected.

Zhuge Liang Memorial Hall is a multilayered architecture featuring a three-yard structure highly resembling Chinese character “目”. The middle yard is equipped with two bungalows facing each other from right and left sides. In the middle of the yard sits a main hall accommodating the sculptures for Zhuge Liang and his offsprings Zhuge Zhan and Zhuge Shang. Steles carved with inscriptions and couplets written by celebrities like Dong Biwu and Guo Moruo are hung in four front halls. While sculptures for Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are enshrined in Three Hero Hall to the southeast of the yard, sculpture for Huang Yueying, wife of Zhuge Liang, is consecrated in a hall sandwiched between the main hall and Three Hero Hall. Standing in the Serene Yard before Three Hero Hall is a 400-year-old osmanthus tree, which spread sweetened fragrance far and wide in golden fall. Bronze Drum Stand and stele corridor are located to the northwest of Zhuge Liang Memorial Hall.
