Pu'er city's efforts to build national hygienic city passes provincial comprehensive evaluation

From March 13 to 16, 2013, the comprehensive evaluation group led by Xu Heping, Deputy Director of the Patriotic Health Campaign Committee of Yunnan Province and Deputy Director-General of the Health Administrative Department of Yunnan Province, performed comprehensive evaluation of building a national hygienic city by Pu'er that passed the provincial comprehensive evaluation successfully, and the comprehensive evaluation group also suggested that the Patriotic Health Campaign Committee of Yunnan Province recommend Pu'er City to the Office of National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee as a national hygienic city.

After hearing the report on building a national hygienic city made by Pu'er City, the evaluation group was divided into 8 professional teams to conduct comprehensive evaluation of the 10 items of patriotic health organization management, health education, city appearance and environmental sanitation, environmental protection, sanitation of drinking water at public places and for life, food safety, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, prevention and control of vectors, communities and health units, and villages within the city and urban-rural fringe zones, by hearing reports, consulting materials, making on-spot investigations, and conducting random sampling according to the district division of eastern, western, southern, northern and central parts of the built-up area.

At the evaluation feedback meeting, the evaluation group reached the consensus that Pu'er Municipal Party Committee and Pu'er Municipal People's Government had been attaching great importance to building itself into a national hygienic city, and unifying and leading people of all nationalities throughout the city to follow the strategy of "Building an eco-city, pursuing green development" and enhancing the city grade of Pu'er. It has combined building a national hygienic city with the improvement of people's livelihood, construction of a beautiful living environment and realization of harmonious integration of man and nature, for which it has obtained many honorary titles, such as the "Top 10 Green City of China" and the "Best Leisure City of China". Moreover, it has kept improving city management level and environmental hygienic quality and achieved brilliant results in turning itself into a national hygienic city. Based on these, the evaluation group concluded that Pu'er City has reached the requirements specified in the Standards for National Hygienic City in terms of all indexes for becoming a national hygienic city, and suggested that the Patriotic Health Campaign Committee of Yunnan Province recommend Pu'er to the Office of National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee as a national hygienic city.
