BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Friday said countries can seek common interests as they are pursuing peace and stability, prosperity and better human development in an ever-changing world.
"As the world is undergoing profound changes, people hope for global peace and stability, economic development and prosperity as well as their own happiness and welfare," Li said as he delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of a 21st Century Council conference in Beijing.
Li briefed the audience on China's efforts to resolve structural problems in economic and social development, reiterating that China will continue pushing ahead with the drive of reform and opening up.
"China will keep expanding opening up, which will provide more opportunities for cooperation between China and the other countries," he said.
"We are always committed to creating a peaceful international environment as well as a stable regional environment in pursuit of win-win reciprocity," said the premier.
Li said China will encounter many difficult problems since there is no established mode for a country with a population of over 1.3 billion to realize modernization.
To resolve these issues, China needs peaceful and stable environments, he said, adding that it will be a contribution to the world if China addresses its own problems well.
"The Chinese economy will keep growing in the long term, in a sustained and healthy way," he said, highlighting the country's expanding domestic demand, as well as its efforts for new-type industrialization, urbanization, the application of information technology, agricultural modernization and its strategy of green development.
Li said China is committed to safeguarding the international system with the United Nations at the center and will firmly safeguard world peace.
"As to problems left over from history, we hold that they should be resolved through dialogues and we are taking active measures to safeguard the overall situation of peace, cooperation and cooperation," he said.
