Pu'er enters final sprint stage for building national garden city

On May 16, 2013, Pu'er City convened a meeting to push forward its efforts in building a national garden city and make arrangements for work and tasks in the final sprint stage.

It is learnt that Pu'er City has achieved remarkable results in terms of growing into a national garden city, as shown by continuous improvement of the urban infrastructures, effective rehabilitation of city appearance and urban environment, and substantial enhancement of its afforestation level.

In the downtown, 44 new avenues are planned, 35 of which have been under construction and 28 of which have been open to traffic. In addition, a batch of public infrastructures including the municipal administrative center, the cultural center, the new campus for the normal school and the vocational education center have been constructed and put into service.

Moreover, the city appearance rehabilitation project and the lighting renovation project are being carried out on a full scale, and urban infrastructures and public supporting facilities are under continuous improvement, substantially increasing the urban green area and comprehensively raising the standard of the living environment.

With the completion of a series of landscape engineering for the wetland park in the north of Pu'er, the cultural center park and the administrative center and the implementation of a batch of green enhancement and renovation projects for urban avenues and streets, the built-up area of the downtown will increase its green coverage ratio to 36.38 percent, with the green space ratio to 34 percent and the public green area per capita in the city to 10.66 square meters, meeting requirements on a national garden city. At the same time, urban dirtiness, disorder and untidiness are also effectively controlled.
