Tuhao, let's be friends: there is a wide-shared joke about a rich and unhappy man who goes to a Buddhist monk for advice, expecting to be told to live more simple life. The monk replies him, “Tuhao, let’s be friends”. The joke made Tuhao a popular word in China. The BBC explains it as "nouveau riche". Simply expressed, a Tuhao is rich but lacks taste.
