In this dazzling display of color, more than 10, 000 people, including over 80 performing troupes from Dai villages across Xishuangbanna, join the dance. Accompanied by folk tunes, the performers showcase their unique moves centered around their trusty umbrellas. In what could be seen as a warm-up for the main event, organizers are hoping to apply for the Guiness World Records next year, for the largest number of people performing the "Umbrella Dance".

Ren Zhonglun, CEO of Shanghai Film Group, said, “It presents the charm of folk culture of Xishuanbanna. Male and female, young and old all throw themselves into the carnival atmosphere. At the same time, the dance is very graceful.”
